April 26, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) is pleased to announce the leadership for the SEEC Environment, Energy, and Climate Task Forces. Rep. Jim Langevin (D-RI) will serve as Chair of the Energy Task Force; Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) will serve as Chair of the Environment Task Force; and Rep. Scott Peters (D-CA) will serve as Chair of the Climate Task Force. These task forces will help to drive and focus SEEC’s efforts to generate innovative policy proposals that promote clean energy technology, protect our natural environment, and address climate change.

Energy Task Force Chair Rep. Jim Langevin (D-RI): A founding member of SEEC, Congressman Jim Langevin has worked diligently in Congress to promote a comprehensive energy policy that guarantees access to affordable power, encourages energy conservation efforts, and pursues increased use of environmentally responsible sources of energy. Rep. Langevin serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He represents Rhode Island’s 2nd Congressional District.

Environment Task Force Chair Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA): Congresswoman Judy Chu has been a strong proponent for creating jobs by protecting our natural wonders and defending clean air and water, as reflected by her 99% lifetime score from the League of Conservation Voters. She is leading the effort in the House to preserve, protect, and enhance the environment and outdoor recreation in California’s San Gabriel Valley and Mountains, to fulfill the long-time vision of bringing one of America’s most urban regions closer to nature. Rep. Chu serves on the Committee on Small Business and Committee on the Judiciary. She represents California’s 27th Congressional District.

Climate Task Force Chair Rep. Scott Peters (D-CA): Congressman Peters is a former environmental attorney and advocated for a greener, environmentally responsible San Diego during his time as City Council President and Port Commissioner. Through his position on the House Committee on Science, Space, & Technology, Congressman Peters is working to promote environmental sustainability by encouraging both traditional and renewable sources of energy and by focusing in on many of San Diego’s innovative companies that are already generating cutting-edge products and ideas in this sector. Rep. Peters represents California’s 52nd Congressional District.
