On Friday, February 10 sixteen environmental organizations sent letters to House Sustainable Energy & Environment Coalition (SEEC) members thanking them for their leadership protecting safeguards for clean air, water, and the environment, and promoting federal policies supporting an American clean energy future.

SEEC: On anniversary of oil spill disaster Congress must address drilling safety
WASHINGTON, DC - On the one-year anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, the members of the House of Representatives Sustainable Energy & Environment Coalition (SEEC) again called for congressional action to implement the recommendations of the Presidential Commission on the BP Oil Spill. The commission’s report, released in February, urged the Congress to strengthen oversight of offshore drilling, and indicated that congressional action was necessary in order to avoid the possibility of another disastrous spill.

Washington, DC - This afternoon, fifty-six Democratic members of the House of Representatives, who recently supported short-term budget Continuing Resolutions (CR) to continue funding for the federal government, sent a letter to Speaker John Boehner expressing reservations for future support for another CR or budget if it contains policy "riders" that would gut important bi-partisan environmental protections.

SEEC calls on House Republican Leaders to act on Oil Spill Commission Report
WASHINGTON, DC -- The members of the House of Representatives Sustainable Energy & Environment Coalition (SEEC) sent a letter today to House Republican leaders urging them to prioritize congressional action on the recommendations of the Presidential Commission on the BP Oil Spill. SEEC backs legislation to clean & restore Gulf, hold BP accountable & enact stronger drilling regulations
WASHINGTON, DC -- Today the Congressional Sustainable Energy & Environment Coalition (SEEC) announced its endorsement of legislation in response to the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill- the largest environmental disaster in American history. SEEC announced its support for legislative proposals to put Americans to work cleaning and restoring the Gulf; increase the liability cap for economic damage claims resulting from oil spills; assess royalty payments on spilled oil; and strengthen environmental and technological rig safety, spill prevention and response standards.
